Chiche

Two words define Chiche: milonguero and extraordinary.

He is milonguero. Tango has been the air that he breathes since he started dancing as a teenager during the Golden Age of tango culture. He belongs to this legendary and exciting generation, the one of the perfect dancers, the one of those who see tango in a different way, without collecting steps or tricks but achieving unsurmountable musicality and lead.

He is also extraordinary. Through his energy, creativity and rhythm he has created a unique style that stands above on the dance floor. His solid embrace and his doubtless lead have made him one of the favorite dancers of the followers, while his posture, speed and neatness has made him one of the most admired (and envied) among the leaders.

Milonga is his specialty, in which he combines his generous rhythmic energy with the precision that his accelerated traspie needs.

Mirta

Mirta Tiseyra learned tango at first with the few old milongueros that lived in her hometown of Rosario (city that is called The Argentine Chicago) and then in the milongas of Buenos Aires. Her dance, that combines a beautiful natural flow with extreme accuracy and speed, has set her among the queens of the portena night. Her impressive footwork, achieved through communication with the leader rather than against it, is a perfect example of high functionality plus expressiveness in a follower.

Maximiliano Gluzman has been following the steps of the old milongueros since the moment he started to dance as a youth. Consequently, he has achieved a dance that characteristically follows the genuine tradition of Buenos Aires social tango and makes him one of the most sincere devotees of this tradition. His tango retains the flavor of the milongueros' dance while being absolutely personal, proving that immense creativity is possible in the context of social tango.

Both of them have specialized in the style of tango from the Golden Age and in its teaching. They have developed an important part of their professional careers abroad and specialize in transmitting the tradtional portena techinque and aesthetics to both Argentines and foreigners alike. They have collaborated in several opportunities. To watch them perform in Cascabelito (Rome) please click on the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYMVi5tagss.

Maxi

Mirta and Maxi, professional instructors, have now joined Chiche, a visceral milonguero, for a once in a lifetime experience. Mirta and Maxi have carefully developed and elaborated the five lessons that compose this workshop focused on tango and (mainly) milonga so as the magic of Chiche reaches the embraces and the feet of the participants.

The objective of the workshop is that the students have a first hand exposure to the secrets of this wonderful dancer but also that those secrets be useful for the transformation of their own dance.

Participants will study the structural characteristics of Chiche's dance (embrace, posture and displacement) and will connect them with some of his most characteristic steps. Finally these movements will then be set in the musical context of tango and milonga and danced socially to the Golden Age orchestras.

Special attention will be paid to the follower's role.
